Delhi Declaration

The 19th Triennial General Assembly & Scientific Symposium to be held from 11th – 15th December, 2017 at New Delhi would witness the coming together of ICOMOS members as well as non ICOMOS conservation professionals from across the globe to deliberate on issues concerning safeguarding of heritage within the theme of ‘Heritage and Democracy’. The deliberations during the symposium shall be structured around four sub themes namely ‘Integrating Heritage and Sustainable Urban Development by engaging diverse Communities for Heritage Management’,‘The Role of Cultural Heritage in Building Peace & Reconciliation’, ‘Protecting and Interpreting Cultural Heritage in the Age of Digital Empowerment’ and ‘Culture-Nature Journey, Exploring the Complexities of Human Relationships with Natural and Cultural Places’. The outcomes of the Symposium arising out of the technical paper presentations, discussions, brain storming sessions and exchange between various heritage specialists would be synthesized in the form of a declaration of principles and recommendations on the global heritage discourse towards a genuine people-centric engagement. The declaration would be ratified during the 19th General Assembly & Scientific Symposium.
