This tour will take you to the eastern Indian state of West Bengal and offers firsthand experience of responsible cultural tourism promoting tangible and intangible heritage led by local community. You will visit villages of scroll painters, storytellers, Bauls and wood carvers. This model is endorsed by UNWTO and UNESCO.
Tentative Day wise Itinerary
- Day 01: Kolkata to Pingla – Scroll painters’ village- Overnight stay at Bishnupur WBTDC lodge
- Day 02: Visit Terracotta temples of Bishnupur, community museum in Bikna – village of makers of Dokra (metal craft using ancient cire perdue, overnight stay at Tepantar Theatre Village
- Day 03: Visit Natungram Wooden Doll village, then Santiniketan, then Joydev Kenduli to interact with Bauls – the wandering minstrels of Bengal – Overnight stay at Tepantar
- Day 04: Post breakfast/ lunch return to Kolkata.
