SOUTH ASIAN SIDE EVENT: SAARC ICOMOS SYMPOSIUM

Due to obvious reasons of geographical proximity and the cost of travels etc., it is anticipated that the participation from South Asian Countries will be relatively much larger than previous representation at ICOMOS General Assemblies. Taking this as an opportunity for boosting the heritage dialogue across the National Committees in South Asian region, a side event is being organized in the eve of the ICOMOS General Assembly in New Delhi. UNESCO New Delhi Office has generously offered to support the initiative by providing the venue for this event. The following are the tentative day/time and key objectives of the event:

DATE: 11 December 2017             TIME: 5:00 – 8:00 PM

VENUE: Auditorium, UNESCO New Delhi Premises, New Delhi

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To facilitate a networking and collaborative synergies among ICOMOS national committees in South Asia,
  2. To bring to fore critical issues and challenges in heritage management in South Asia,
  3. To highlight the needs and opportunities of working together in shared concerns on heritage management in South Asia,
  4. To discuss and finalize a draft resolution addressing above objectives to be presented to the plenary session of the GA 2017.
